Microsoft 365 Backup

Protect Microsoft 365 data everywhere

Microsoft 365 is increasingly used as the main business productivity solution, but many users don't fully understand that the data protection is largely the responsibility of the customer. Without a third-party backup, sensitive data such as emails and shared files remain vulnerable to loss. Activating a secure backup plan for Office 365 is essential to protect data and ensure business continuity, while reducing costs.

Do you know the shared responsibility model?

The shared responsibility model is a framework that helps you understand what components and activities you are responsible for in a Microsoft 365 environment. Even if Microsoft hosts the infrastructure on which the applications you use daily reside, and is therefore responsible for its availability, the data remains yours and It is your responsibility to back it up.

FAQ

Does Microsoft 365 back up my data?

No, it's a misconception that Microsoft is in charge of backing up Microsoft 365 (Office 365) data. While it offers resilience and compliance tools, it doesn't provide a full backup. Microsoft's shared responsibility model states that organizations remain responsible for their data.

How often should I back up my Microsoft 365 data?

The frequency of the backup depends on business needs. Determining the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) is the first useful step in aligning strategies and choosing the most suitable Microsoft 365 Backup tool.

To use the proposed solutions, do I need to set up an ad hoc environment to activate the backup?

Not in every solution. With Acronis Cyber Backup, an Agentless service, there is no need to prepare resources. Veeam Cloud Platform, provided by CloudFire, offers Veeam as a service with storage space and resources needed for backup. Storware does not require additional resources if it is already in use, otherwise it requires a new activation.

Where can I store the Office 365 Backup?

The storage options depend on the tool. With Veeam Cloud Platform, for example, it is possible to store replicas in the CloudFire infrastructure. Acronis Cyber Backup sends the replicas to Acronis' proprietary infrastructure. With Storware, you can choose the backup destination from the various options available in the service.
