The first heat starts and we are getting closer to summer and holidays, but we at the CloudFire team have not yet put on our swimsuits and even for this month we have some exciting news to let you know! πŸ”₯

This is where we focused our efforts.

πŸ“¦ Scalable Object Storage

‍

Officially released the functionality of Scalable Object Storage, inside Cortex πŸš€

Scalable Object Storage allows you to create and manage Buckets, compatible with S3 protocol, to store and protect any amount of data for any use case. This gives you scalability, security, cutting-edge performance, and data availability anytime and from anywhere.

You can now find it available in the Public Cloud.

‍

Use cases ❓

‍

If you're wondering how this service might work for you, here are some examples of how you can use Scalable Object Storage:

  • Archive data In spaces in Cloud ☁️ resilient and always available;
  • Optimize disaster recovery plans πŸ’₯ from any disasters;
  • Transfer files quickly ✈️ allowing your customers to achieve high upload and download speeds from your file transfer application based on object storage;
  • Create one scalable storage 🧩 to meet your business needs with high IOPS and low latency.

‍

‍

Main functionalities

‍

  • Create a space to store your data 🎑
    ‍
    With Scalable Object Storage active and create a space compatible with the S3 protocol in which to allocate all the data you need;
  • πŸ” Protect your data inside the bucket
    By setting a data preservation mode, you guarantee the immutability of the objects contained in the bucket, preventing any deletion or overwriting, even if unintentional. Different preservation modes are available, within Cortex you can choose between Governance, Compliance and Veeam Immutability depending on your use case;
  • Use version management πŸ”™
    ‍
    To always have a previous version available, set, where not present by default, the data versioning of your objects within the bucket;
  • Manage sub-users πŸ‘©πŸΌπŸ’» πŸ§‘πŸΌπŸ’»
    Guarantee exclusive access to buckets, assigning read-only or read-write permissions, with the possibility of resetting credentials;
  • Browse and manage your buckets πŸ”‘
    To browse and modify the files contained in your buckets, download preset configuration files for S3cmd and Cyberduck directly from Cortex;
  • Coming Soon Multiregion 🌎 πŸ”œ (but really soon)
    We are working to make it possible for you to select the region in which to store your data. To date, the Milan region is available, redundant 3 times in order to guarantee resilience and availability of data at any time, but soon you will have the opportunity to choose in which datacenter to allocate your objects, while maintaining high performance.

🎨 Public Cloud Reorganization

‍

We also took the opportunity of the release of Scalable Object Storage to reorganize the Public Cloud service and make it even more usable.

The functionalities and characteristics have remained the same, you will only find them reorganized into more accessible sections. Each section remains independent, and you can create buckets, public cloud instances, or both without any constraints.

These are the sections you can find today:

  • Dashboard: useful for summarizing the resources allocated at that time and a complete picture of the consumption you are making;
  • Instance Management: which contains everything related to the creation and access to instances in Public Cloud;
  • Scalable Object Storage: for the functionality of creating and managing Buckets;
  • Settings: for global Public Cloud settings, such as transfer between projects.
