If you have already read our article Year in Review, you are already aware of what he directed us last year; in this article, we want to reveal the cards of what the next objectives will be!
Ideas, developments, advice and even mistakes lead us to question ourselves every day, and it is precisely for this reason that 2023 will be an important and turning point for CloudFire. We will give even more value to Cortex, which will expand its range of action, it will be natural for this reason to go even deeper into the Cloud Native world, strengthening all our services and in particular giving an important boost to our IaaS, focusing once again on security.
Considering that dynamism and speed of change are the order of the day in our sector, it will be difficult and decidedly challenging to achieve all the good intentions that you will read shortly; however, we like to test ourselves; therefore, here are our next challenges:
Cortex: the CloudFire Front End
As mentioned a little while ago, one of our goals for 2023 is to highlight even more and above all Give greater value to Cortex. If you don't already know it, in a nutshell, it's the platform through which you have access to the entire CloudFire world, the related services and know-how in self-service mode and from which you access consumption monitoring, billing and much more.
Over the years, we've developed and implemented everything you find in Cortex; now, however, we want to take a step. This means that:
- Cortex is a lot more than just a service manager.
Now it plays a fundamental role for CloudFire, becoming the real Front End of our essence. The services developed and integrated over the years, the hard-earned know-how, the technologies used that can lead to achieving our goal, must all reflect our mindset: accelerating IT innovation with powerful and scalable, technologically advanced and automated cloud solutions; - One-click Deploy be the concept behind every implementation.
The watchword this year will be Automation, in this way you will have the opportunity to act in complete autonomy, from the activation of solutions to the modification of the resources themselves; - They exist common and shared characteristics within the components of Cortex.
What all the solutions that we choose to date and that we will implement in the near future have in common are factors such as scalability and resources Pay-per-usage. Having resources in a flexible way, with costs closely linked to this elasticity, is a distinctive feature that we consider indispensable for any technology contained in Cortex.
Cloud Native & Kubernetes
Cloud Native Computing and Kubernetes today are dependent and inseparable concepts. The adoption of K8s has become a key step in migrating workloads to Public Clouds and this is demonstrated by the exponential increase in its use over the last year. The choice of Kubernetes is guided by a series of parameters such as cost, ease of provisioning, scalability, and the resulting data security.
These are some of the reasons that confirm our choice to integrate a Managed Kubernetes service into Cortex that will make it possible for you:
- Get a Control Plane as a Service.
This means having the Kubernetes component available that allows you to combine services, regions and compute resources from any public cloud in a managed manner. This involves having your infrastructure security always updated and centrally managed by our team that allows you to focus time and resources on your application and not on what is behind it; - Implement a Multi Cloud strategy.
Every reality has its own logic and infrastructure needs: the choice may fall on CloudFire or other Cloud Providers, which is precisely why we want to offer you a series of unified tools to manage your application on any cloud provider you need. In this way, in addition to not limiting yourself in your choice, you have the opportunity to simplify onboarding, management and billing between different Cloud operators. - Hook up tools closely linked to K8s.
Around Kubernetes, in fact, there are different technologies used: our goal is to provide a series of pre-packaged plug&play products such as Argo CD, Crossplane, CNI and many others, useful for a complete and efficient management of the Cloud Native world. - Take advantage of the functionality of Platform Engineering increasingly meeting the concept of serverless.
By adopting such an approach, you have the opportunity to separate the work of the developers from the new Platform engineers, facilitating the former, who will focus their attention on the product and delegating the management and operation of the operation to the latter.
Power to IaaS
The core business in CloudFire, both for the experiences and for the skills gained, has always been the world related to IaaS. For this reason, over the course of the year, we will be making several implementations to our Public Cloud, including:
- New regions available in Public Cloud.
You'll have a multi-region architecture that will make your applications more resilient, flexible, and compliant with data protection laws in different countries. - Functionality of Load balancing as a service.
To distribute the workload between different applications in a self-service and completely pay-per-use mode, you will have a PaaS (Platform as a service) that allows you to have proxy HA balancers with a layer 7 security system available for the various back ends. - New HPC flavors related to the AI world.
We have been talking about artificial intelligence for years now, and in this period it seems to be the trend of the moment. This is confirmed by ChatGPT, the last frontier of artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI that is depopulating everywhere. To support these workloads, ad hoc architectures become necessary, therefore, you will soon find suitable and efficient HPC computational resources available on demand in Public Cloud for AI tools and applications.
Safety remains a constant
Even the security will be a key component in CloudFire's 2023 strategy. In addition to devoting attention to threat detection and prevention technologies, it will focus on implementing activity management and control capabilities in Cortex.
Specifically, in fact, with the aim of aligning ourselves with today's compliance, we will add features such asAudit logging. This allows you to record and collect all the activities carried out within the portal, keeping complete control of them.
